INTRODUCING KEliza

Readers, please note the title of this Blog: Eliza’s Perspective. I often refer to myself as the Kajun Eliza Doolittle because of my cajun accent and naive country-girl philosophy. I was deemed unsophisticated by some, but I persisted. Eventually, I realized I was a good educator and administrator, not in spite of my simplicity, but because of it. I attribute my drive to be successful to my maternal grandfather who believed in me and encouraged me to aim high, and my state administrator tenure to Superintendent Cecil Picard who dared to hire this country-girl.

    K’Eliza,
I have admired you forever because you are a great teacher (and not just in the classroom). Your views on educational issues at the state level always concerned what was good for the children. And more importantly, you are my friend even though we don’t visit much. Perhaps this blog can help us to communicate regularly.

What a pleasure to hear again the powerfully authentic voice of one of the most passionate advocates for teachers and students!
